COMTASS € comes with a live link to Microsoft Excel ensuring quick and simple access to your data without the need for any knowledge of programming in any language. Comparatives from previous years are fully supported. Here is an example of how this works. A section from your trial balance looks as follows:-
We will now create a Trading Account, showing period, year to date and comparative figures. To make things more complicated, we require the period to be the four months from period 3 to period 6. It comes out like this:-
Now let's look at how this works. This is the complete spreadsheet:-
You will see the headers PER1, PER2, PERCOMP YTD1, YTD2 and YTDCOMP above the columns which contain the data. These headers are picked up by the program, and the correct data is inserted into the correct column. This makes the system totally flexible. You could, if you wished, have the period figures then the description then the year to date. You must enter the company number beneath the Company header, the year beneath the Year header and the starting period beneath the Period1 header. Leaving Period2 blank, or entering the same period as in period 1 will produce a report for that period. Entering another value in period 2 allows the report to be taken out for any range of periods you like - quarterly, six monthly or anything else you select - this truly is a great system to use! The *START* label signifies the column which contains the queries.
